Children's Programs

The East Texas Food Bank cares about children, families, and seniors who do not have enough food to eat. Everyday, the Food Bank works to feed people through a variety of programs and services.

Children's Hunger Initiatives:

BackPack Program For children who often participate in after-school snack and dinner programs but are faced with hunger on the weekends when these programs do not operate. more>
Summer Food Service Program Ensures children who receive meals during the school year continue to receive nutritious meals in the summer. more>
Kids Cafe An after-school on-site feeding program that provides nutritious, well-balanced meals to children in a safe setting. more>

Senior Servings Targets seniors who receive meal assistance during the week through Meals on

Wheels or other programs but are unable to receive any on the weekends. more>

Nutrition Education Promotes a long term solution to hunger and poor nutritional habits by

providing the cooking, nutrition, and food budgeting skills needed to make healthy and economical

food choices. more>

Outreach The Outreach and Enrollment program is an effort to ensure that all East Texans have the knowledge and benefits of the Food Stamp Program. more>

Other Food Bank Programs:

Rural Outreach & Delivery delivers food from the Food Bank to strategic sites in

outlying communities enabling rural agencies to better benefit from membership

with the East Texas Food Bank.

Produce People Care is a program that distributes fresh fruits and vegetables to clients

through partner agencies. In the past five years, fresh produce distribution has grown from

700,000 pounds a year to over 3 million pounds a year.
